Hey, Baker Lions! I made it into the mailing list!
I'm Bob Brown. I'm a Class of '65 Lion. I work for DeKalb Medical Center and DeKalb Regional Healthcare System and teach part-time at Southern College of Technology.
Ummm, and I cheated. It was easier for me to get on this list than it
was for some of you. The computer it runs on is in the building where
I work!

For those of you that don't know me (I know that my 'lil brother is out
there somewhere) -- I graduated from Baker in 1965. I live on Lake
Sinclair and teach nursing at Georgia College. My clinical interests are in
the areas of gastroenterology and community health education. My education
interests are in the area of computer mediated instructional technology. I
"watch after' about 24 Macs and an assundry of other computer equipment and
software for the School of Nursing -- with the help of another colleague.
Here at Georgia College we are busy working on the college home page -- but
we are not as far along as the Baker effort. You can check out Georgia
College and the School of Nursing with this address:
I checked Netscape this afternoon and saw where Mr. Hardy is out there in
cyber space. Thanks for contacting us, Mr. Hardy!
Bob Brown said that we have had some grads for the '50's to contact us as
well. I am excited that so many people are getting involved.
Look forward to hearing from others ..... Jeannie

In particular, there was no explanation of what electronic mailing
lists are all about, nor did the instructions in the welcome message
adequately distinguish between the list address (Lions-L@Baker.HS.org)
and the addresses to send commands to the list server or to reach the
list owner. (Lions-L-Request@Baker.HS.org is the server's command
processing program and Lions-L-Owner@Baker.HS.org reaches the list
owner, currently me.
I've revised the instructions. If you want to retrieve a copy of the
new instructions, send a message to Lions-L-Request@Baker.HS.org (the
command processor address) with the word INFO in the body of the
message.
In fact, I'd appreciate it if several of you *would* retrieve the new
instructions and then send your comments to the mailing list so we can
discuss how they can be further improved. I'm *very* new at this
stuff, and need all the help I can get.

Following her suggestion (that's a hint about who it is) I looked at
several background files, but I didn't like any of them. Finally I
began to wonder what I could do here. I've developed a background of
the initials BHS repeating across the background, looking like they
were embossed into it. I think it's pretty neat. Unhappily, it also
causes the home page to load more slowly.
OK Lions, please look at http://www.baker.hs.org/test.html to see the
BHS embossed background, then report back here to Lions-L about
whether you prefer plain or fancy.
By the way, several people have joined the list recently. I can no
longer count the subscribers without using my thumbs.

None of these three folks is on the Lions-L mailing list yet, but I'm
sending Jim and Britt copies of this message since it's mostly about
them.
Speaking of which, I'm having trouble getting people to subscribe to
the mailing list. Apparently I'm taking a wrong approach or
something. If anyone has any ideas about how to do this better, I
surely would like to hear from them. Thanks!

But I really *meant* Elizabeth Cleveland Ware. Sorry, Liz. I plead
lack of coffee at too early an hour on the last day of the year.
Speaking of which, Happy New Year, everyone! --Bob
